Building Trust with Stakeholders in Water Supply Management

Trust between water suppliers and stakeholders is essential. It develops through honest, transparent interactions and sound business practices—valuing public interests, charging fair rates, and ensuring reliable service. Engagement practices vary widely by context: for example, urban utilities may run awareness campaigns, while small village water suppliers may bring community members together to manage water supply during droughts.

This Special Issue focuses on how trust influences water management success. It highlights opportunities for research and practice to address trust and distrust, tackle complex challenges, and promote innovation. Building trust is key to achieving sustainable, resilient, and equitable water supply management.
