Modelling and Integrated Assessment of Urban Water Systems (Watermatex 2023)

Increasing climate pressures, aging infrastructure and growing demands on water systems present urgent challenges for the water and wastewater sector. It is important to address these issues by showcasing methodological advances in modelling, simulation, data management, systems analysis, and decision support tools.

By fostering innovation in these areas, this Special Issue, in collaboration with the 11th IWA Symposium on Modelling and Integrated Assessment (Watermatex 2023), held in Québec City (Québec, Canada) in September 2023, seeks to support the development of smarter, more resilient and more sustainable water systems, particularly in relation to water reuse, resource recovery, and the water-energy nexus.
