Worldwide Experience on Nature-Based Solutions in the Water Sector
Water-related challenges, such as flood protection, groundwater recharge, pollution control, and safe reuse, are increasingly critical. Nature-based solutions (NbS) offer a promising approach to address these issues. When designed accurately and through interdisciplinary collaboration, NbS can deliver multiple co-benefits beyond water management, including nutrient recovery, enhanced biodiversity, urban cooling, and reduced energy use.
This Special Issue focuses on advancing knowledge of NbS in urban water management, particularly in the context of climate change, population growth, and water scarcity. It highlights innovative research, reviews, and case studies that demonstrate how NbS can offer sustainable, context-specific solutions across diverse regions.
