Call for Papers

H2Open Journal, the high impact interdisciplinary Open Access journal from IWA Publishing, is inviting paper submissions for the special issue on “Evolutionary Algorithms in Water Resources”. Guest editors for the special issue are Prof. D. Nagesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India ( & Prof. K. Srinivasa Raju, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus, India (

About the issue:

Evolutionary algorithms (EA) are applied to various complex water resources problems and their potentiality is proved beyond doubt due to their capabilities in handling non-differentiable, nonlinear, multimodal functions having complex search space with many local optimal solutions. Several EAs were developed and are also in the process of development.

Another stimulating aspect is the interdisciplinary flavor of EA and its smooth connection with other upcoming areas such as Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Application of sensors, Soft computing, Data mining techniques etc.

Given the growing interest of researchers across the globe in this area, a special issue will be published to collate the relevant research topics in a holistic manner.

Research papers are invited for this special issue on the following themes related (but not limited to) to any aspect of hydraulics, water resources assessment, planning and management, and water quality:

  1. Evolutionary algorithms
  2. Big Data Analytics
  3. Internet of Things (IoT)
  4. Machine Learning
  5. Application of Sensors
  6. Soft computing and Data Mining
  7. Other relevant topics

This special issue will also include invited articles from experts in relevant domains.

Researchers, academicians, social scientists, field engineers and other relevant experts are encouraged to submit articles for possible publication in the special issue on Evolutionary Algorithms in Water Resources.
