Journal of Hydroinformatics Special Issue on

Sustainable River Ecosystem Management: Addressing Environmental and Hydromorphological Dynamics with GeoAI

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Special Issue focuses on the sustainable river ecosystem management that stands as a critical endeavor in today's environmental landscape, aiming to balance the intricate interplay between ecological preservation and human needs. Leveraging advancements in GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) offers a promising avenue to address the multifaceted challenges posed by environmental and hydromorphological dynamics. By integrating satellite imagery, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and machine learning algorithms, GeoAI empowers decision-makers with real-time insights into river systems, facilitating proactive measures for conservation and restoration.

This interdisciplinary approach enables the identification of key ecological indicators, such as habitat quality, water flow patterns, and sediment transport dynamics, allowing for targeted interventions to mitigate the impacts of anthropogenic activities and climate change. Furthermore, GeoAI facilitates the optimization of resource allocation and policy formulation, fostering a holistic approach to sustainable river management that harmonizes ecological integrity with societal needs. Embracing GeoAI in river ecosystem management signifies a paradigm shift towards adaptive and data-driven strategies, paving the way for a resilient and thriving aquatic environment for generations to come.

We are pleased to invite you to submit a manuscript to Journal of Hydroinformatics for peer review and possible publication in a Special Issue entitled ‘Sustainable River Ecosystem Management: Addressing Environmental and Hydromorphological dynamics with GeoAI’.

Relevant topics include:

  • Applications of GeoAI in monitoring and assessing river ecosystem health.
  • Integration of remote sensing data and GIS technologies in river management.
  • Predictive modelling of hydrological and hydromorphological processes using AI techniques.
  • Assessment of anthropogenic impacts on river ecosystems and strategies for mitigation.
