Water Reuse Special Issue on

Materials and Methods in Water Treatment

CALL FOR PAPERS

Water is probably the most serious ecological threat that we face today, which not only spells disaster to the aquatic ecosystem but also to the very survival of most life forms. Water pollution has been largely been due to industrial revolution which has resulted from increased human activity. Pollution of water bodies have directly affected the lives and livelihood of millions globally. Access to clean water is anticipated to be the major challenge that societies will face in near future.

The scarcity of water fit for human consumption is primarily a result of inefficient use and recycling processes. Some of the major challenges in providing access to quality water at large scale includes real time monitoring of pristine natural fresh water resources, exploration of novel materials and strategies for faster and efficient recycling of wastewater without producing secondary pollutants, formulation and periodic up gradation of national water policies etc. These issues need to be addressed for long term sustainable solutions.

Addressing the bottlenecks in the current purification/recycling technologies, such as biofouling, energy intensive process, eco-friendly disposal of spent materials/media, unavailability of point of use sensing devices, IoT enabled sensor networks etc., can provide short term solutions to our current requirements.

The aim of this Special Issue is to share scientific dialogues that engage with state of the art material and technology developments which mitigate various issues related to water treatment/purification/desalination for water reuse. We welcome diverse approaches such as theoretical studies, process, device and materials development, policy matters etc., to address various aspects of this global issue.

We invite you to submit your latest findings in form of research articles, critical reviews or perspectives to Water Reuse for peer review and possible publication in a Special Issue entitled Materials and Methods in Water Treatment. The contributions will be invited through and presented at the 2nd International Conference on Water Technologies 2022 to be organized by Water Innovation Center (WICTRE) at IIT Bombay. India.

Relevant topics include:

Theoretical and experimental studies not limited to the following topics:

  • Nano materials for water purification/desalination
