Hydrology Research is seeking 6 candidates for the position of Subject Editor, to their team of internationally-renowned subject experts. 

Hydrology Research is a peer-reviewed, Open Access international journal, dedicated to all aspects of hydrology, water research and management and has been publishing water research for over 50 years. It is the official journal of the Nordic Hydrological Society and works in collaboration with the Italian Hydrological Society and the German Hydrological Society. Position Overview

The Subject Editors use our online peer-review system, Editorial Manager, to progress submissions by selecting reviewers and informing authors of editorial and publishing decisions. In addition, they contribute to policy decisions regarding the future direction of the journal, help acquire new material, encourage high-quality submissions, and champion the journal at events and on social media. Subject Editors are appointed for an initial term of 3 years.


Potential candidates should have:

  • An interest in developments with an international scope
  • Great organisation, time management and communication skills
  • A dedication to the role of Associate Editor and the time commitment it entails
  • An active research profile, and an established record of work and scholarship in relevant scientific field(s)
  • Past experience in publishing in leading journals, also as a main author
  • Interest in developing publishing processes considering our focus on quality, ethics, equality and service to the water community
  • Interest in developing and promoting the journal in the hydrological research and management community

We welcome applicants with expertise in the journal focus areas and in particular in the following areas:

  • Water Resource Management
  • Atmospheric Processes: Climate Systems, Precipitation, Evaporation
  • Conceptual Modelling and Processes
  • Digital solutions: Data, IoT, Digital Twins
  • Data Driven Approaches: Statistical Hydrology, Machine Learning

    Water Supply is looking for 10 Editors to add to their team of internationally-renowned subject experts.

    Water Supply is an international peer-reviewed journal that focuses on all aspects of water supply, focussing on not only on new scientific advances but also technological aspects. The journal is Open Access and authors do not need to pay Article Processing Charges thanks to the support of universities, institutions and individuals who have contributed towards our annual Subscribe to Open.     Expertise in the following fields are particularly sought:

    • Leakage management
    • Modelling and system analysis
    • Optimisation of water supply
    • Water resources (including groundwater)
    • Water supply in specific climates
    • Food-Water-Energy Nexus

    Other qualities that are desirable:

    • Existing editorial experience, particularly with online peer-review systems
    • A strong international network of colleagues who can contribute to the journal as readers, reviewers and authors
    • Previous service and contribution to Water Supply, i.e. being an author or reviewer
    • Membership to the International Water Association (IWA)
    • Association or institutional awards
