Special Issues with IWA Publishing

Guest Editor Responsibilities

Special Issues are usually edited by at least two Guest Editors, who are responsible for:

  • Writing a concise description of the Special Issue, which can be used to advertise the issue. This will form part of the Call for Papers (a template will be provided by the Editorial Team).
  • Selecting a journal with best fit for the Special Issue.
  • Suggesting at least 10 authors who can be invited to submit a paper for the issue.
  • Overseeing the peer review of the papers for the Special Issue using the Editorial Manager peer review system.
  • Writing an Editorial to bring together the theme of the Special Issue, once the peer review process has concluded.

IWA Publishing Responsibilities

  • Advertise the Special Issue widely, to ensure the maximum number of quality submissions.
  • Use our databases to find potential authors to add to the list of authors suggested by the Guest Editors.
  • Support the Guest Editors during the peer review process.
  • Publish papers online immediately upon publication, in a dedicated Special Issue area.
  • Publish the finalised Special Issue as part of the In Focus – Special Books Series, with a tailored marketing campaign.
