Use of surfactant-like CTAB increases the stability of TiO2 nanoparticles in water by forming micelles around them and thus can enhance the dispersibility of the particles in aqueous medium (Deka & Maji 2011). CTAB also contains a hydrophilic end (Miao et al. 2014), which might enhance the solubility of modified TiO2 particles in aqueous medium. Thus some particles may get leached in to water during wastewater treatment. This difficulty may be avoided by the use of supporting materials or by coating the nanoparticles with polymeric materials.
