Table 1 shows the regression model on the relationship between the level of acceptance, general knowledge, and demographic information. The education level is positively related to the acceptance of the use of reclaimed water for non-potable use (
p-value < 0.05). This indicates that respondents with higher levels of education, particularly those with tertiary education, will find it easier to accept it. Zhu
et al. (2019) also found that the respondents with greater levels of education were more confident in their use of reclaimed water than those with lower levels of education. The respondents with a greater level of education had more knowledge and comprehension of reclaimed water, specifically the benefits and disadvantages of reclaimed water use. Age is statistically significantly associated with the level of acceptability of reclaimed water use.
Figure 6 shows that the fact that the majority of the respondents were between the ages of 40–49 years old contributed to the result. In general, as people get older, they become more accepting of recycled water (Dolnicar
et al., 2011).
