CALL FOR PAPERS
Management of Lakes and Reservoirs
Water Quality Research Journal and Hydrology Research are pleased to invite submissions for peer review and possible publication in the ‘Management of Lakes and Reservoirs’ Special Issue.
Lakes and reservoirs are essential for providing drinking water, supporting biodiversity, and sustaining recreational and economic activities. However, they are increasingly threatened by pollution, climate change, and overuse. Effective management of these resources requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates hydrodynamics, hydrology, biogeochemistry, microbiology, aquatic biology, modelling, and management.
This Special Issue stems from the IWA Lake and Reservoir Management Conference 2024 but is open to all contributions. It aims to bring together cutting-edge research, practical approaches, and interdisciplinary perspectives to address the multifaceted challenges associated with maintaining and improving the quality of these water bodies. This Special Issue seeks to highlight recent advances, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and share best practices.
Relevant topics include:
- Diffuse pollution and eutrophication
- Hydrological and hydroclimatic impacts on lakes and reservoirs
- Instrumentation and techniques for water quality monitoring
- In-situ control strategies to remove nutrients, cyanobacteria and other contaminants, and to mitigate greenhouse gas releases
- In-reservoir water quality management strategies
- Evaluating reservoirs as pathogen and contaminant barriers
- Understanding the impacts of climate change
- Hydrological extremes, droughts and flood management in lakes and reservoirs
- Reservoir sedimentation and its management
- Hydrodynamic and water quality model applications
- Connecting reservoir management and water treatment strategies
- One Water
