Regulation of water service and efficient use of water

This report highlights the need for policies targeted to sustainable use of water, which, at the same time, affect water service providers and the environment. Experience from several European countries can help us to identify efficient regulation mechanisms and the effect they could have on the Italian water sector. Some elements of United Kingdom regulation and some of the energy regulation in Italy are analysed. An Energy Savings Certificates approach is also investigated.
