Water Supply Special Issue on
Groundwater Recharge Potential Zonation and Quality Status Assessment Using Smart Sensors and Soft Computation Techniques, Focusing on Water Supply Services
CALL FOR PAPERS
This Special Issue desires to publish application of smart and novel techniques in the management of groundwater basins all over the world. Identification or prediction of the Ground Water Recharge (GWR) zones with the help of innovative arrangement or development of smart-sensors and by the application of soft computation techniques (AI, ML, MCDM, NBO etc.) will be the main focus of the Special Issue.
We are pleased to invite you to submit a manuscript to Water Supply for peer review and possible publication in a Special Issue entitled ‘Groundwater Recharge Potential Zonation and Quality Status Assessment Using Smart Sensors and Soft Computation Techniques, Focusing on Water Supply Services’. The submission of well-documented datasets and case studies on GWR applications is encouraged. Such papers should describe the case study, the collected dataset, monitoring infrastructure, and data ownership and availability. The data validation process should be clearly explained, and the uncertainty connected to the data collection process should be assessed.
Relevant topics include:
- Impact of climate change on GWR zones of watersheds with the help of AI, GIS, and MCDMs
- Impact of industrial activities on GWR zones of watersheds with the help of AI, GIS, and MCDMs
- Development of smart indicators of vulnerability assessment with adaptive capabilities ground water levels and quality for threat identification and intervention
- Implementation of Nature Based Optimization Techniques and MCDM in location selection for new GWR zones
- Development of Early Warning Systems with the help of AI, MCDM and GIS along with ICTs for saline water intrusion, water level reduction or pesticide/fertilizer contaminations
- Increasing crop yield and water productivity by the development of user-friendly decision-making apps that can be utilized by farmers
- Optimization of Water-Food-Energy Nexus through sustainable agriculture practices by utilization of rainwater harvesting
Key dates:
Deadline for manuscript submission: 13th January 2025
Expected publication: Articles will be published online as soon as possible after acceptance.
