Computer Aided Design of Sequencing Batch Reactors Based on the IAWPRC Activated Sludge Model

A modified version of the IAWPRC activated sludge model was developed to describe the performance of laboratory and pilot scale Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBR). Changes of COD, ammonia and NO_x during the SBR process cycle could be reliably predicted after the model parameters were adapted to SBR conditions. Most promising process strategies could be identified with the aid of a simulation program.
