Field experiments were conducted to study the fate of noxious substances from stormwater basin overflows during infiltration into soil. The stormwater basins received flow from combined sewer systems. COD of the overflow varied between 80 and 100 mg/l. The COD to BOD5 ratio was about 5.5 . By the time the infiltrated water reached the groundwater table the COD was reduced to values below 30 mg/l.
