The pellets formed by Aspergillus niger increased in number and their average diameter became smaller with the increase in the speed of revolution, i.e. the G value, and the number of pellets bad linear relationship with the logarithm of the G value within the range of about 100-300 sec−1. The form and high intensity of pellets were maintained under aeration, but their diameter became gradually larger during the continuous experiments of starch wastewater treatment The pellets formed by A. niger bad good ability of starch decomposition and TOC removal, because over 90% of the starch was decomposed and about 75% of the TOC was removed during the treatment. Therefore, it was suggested from the practical point of view that the pellet formation by A. niger could be controlled by the shearing stress and that these pellets were effective for the starch wastewater treatment
