The Future of Wastewater Pond and Algal Technologies for a Sustainable Planet (WPAT22)

The IWA Specialist Group on Wastewater Pond and Algal Technologies promotes new advances in the use of pond systems and algal bioprocesses for wastewater treatment in both industrialised and developing countries, focusing on sustainable sanitation, public health, environmental protection, and resource recovery to support circular bio-economy. The 13th IWA Specialist Conference (WPAT22), an international conference held in Melbourne in July 2022, provided a forum to discuss the latest developments in these advancements.

This Special Issue, formed of contributions to this conference, highlights the critical role of innovative technologies and management practices in advancing wastewater pond treatment systems to contribute to solving global challenges.
