Analysis and Removal of Contaminants: Recent Advances and Emerging Technologies in Water Treatment

CALL FOR PAPERS

Water pollution is one of the world’s most serious health and environmental problems. Pesticides, heavy metals, endocrine disruptors, detergents, and pharmaceutical and personal care compounds have major emerging pollutants that have been identified and quantified in aquatic systems, including surface and groundwaters, wastewater treatment plant effluents, and drinking water. These contaminants are believed to pose potential dangers to environmental ecosystems and human health even at low concentrations. However, conventional wastewater treatments are usually unable to remove the ultra-trace levels of emerging pollutants which can persist for a long time in the environmental media. The applications of advanced oxidation processes may provide new opportunities in this regard. The AOPs, such as ozonation, photocatalysis, electrochemical treatment, photo-Fenton oxidation, and sonochemistry processes, are considered the major strategies for future complementary techniques to conventional water treatments.

Furthermore, identification and toxicity assessment of the major degradation products of emerging contaminants is important, because, as some studies have indicated, hazardous by-products generated during removal processes could be more toxic than the original molecule. Recently, the monitoring, control, pathways of transformation and degradation of emerging pollutants residues during water treatment processes and in natural environments have received more attention. Advances in analytical technologies and spatio-temporal monitoring have helped to determine this group of contaminants at very low concentrations in the water environment.

We are pleased to announce the third International Conference on Science, Engineering, and Advanced Technology (ICSEAT-2023), which is being organized by international scientists, academics, and researchers from different scientific areas along with the Association for Scientific Research, Development and Innovation (ASRDI). Scheduled for December 07-09, 2023, ICSEAT-2023 (https://sciences-congress.com/) will be held 100% online.

We are pleased to invite you to submit a manuscript to Water Science and Technology for peer review and possible publication in a Special Issue entitled Analysis and Removal of Contaminants: Recent Advances and Emerging Technologies in Water Treatment.

Relevant topics include:

The ICSEAT-2023 conference will cover a wide range of topics related to water/wastewater treatment, recent process technology and their applications. We invite all the participants to submit original and scientific studies related to, but not limited to, the following topics:
